Obviously, most folks on this forum have a very positive outlook on the Elio. No big surprise there - most of us have spent hundreds of dollars just to get in line for an iffy chance to purchase one of these vehicles.

When I talk about it with family and friends, they politely feign interest, but I can tell they really don't care for the concept of a vehicle designed to driven solo. They express the usual concerns about stability, traction, crashworthiness, etc.. So what does all this have to do with this thread? Good question.

My point is, many of these people who review the prototype Elios are not enthusiasts. They are mostly just hacks who are paid to test-drive it and write a review. They have no obligation to be fair or objective with their review. They are expected to make the review interesting to read.

An easy way to do this is drag someone or something through the mud.

So that's what they do. Pretty typical, if you ask me.
