That my friend are the key points to consider in determining whether or not EM is pre-loan and post-loan financially viable by the DOE. EM currently has no income stream in and is operating only on high interest loan venture capital.

I speculate that if the long shot ATVM Loan was/is approved that much of that funding source would go to repay the venture capital investors with remaining funds earmarked for production needs.
I thought that the private placement investors were buying stock. They don't have to be paid back. The only other major creditors are Stuart Lichter for a few million, IAV for $1.3m, CH Capital for $10m, and Racer Trust for $23m. They don't have to start paying the lease on the factory until August 1, 2016. Even if they paid all of that immediately, they'd still have one hell of a chunk of cash if they went for $200m from the DoE.

One of the good things they did is to not take out a lot of loans. They owe money, but it's not to a bunch of venture capital investors. Paul Elio still owns the vast majority of the company, both personally and through his company. Most of the money to pay expenses cam from Stuart Lichter and the reservations.

100% agree.
Though qualifications of, <paraphrase> you are qualified to receive this loan if you don't actually need this loan</paraphrase> seem very government-esque.

I'm not a fan of this program in the first place. That being said... I sure hope that Elio gets the loan guarantee.
The applicant may need the loan to develop new techology, expand their existing production facilities, or hire more employees to build it..........while having other sources of income and financial stability. The fact that the DOE seems to be more cautious with taxpayer funds doesn't seem very government-esque to our surprise. We should embrace the concept.

I support the DOE Program and recognize the importance of developing new technology to insure our future energy needs. I hope EM gets the necessary funding too.

I must be addicted to reading the variety of opinions regarding EM and then of course offering my own. I need to take a break until after the P5 unveil in a few weeks. That should spark some new and exciting conversation and may even benefit the ATVM loan approval process.

I thought that this was where the selling of CAFE credits comes in. That's how they make their profit.
This information says as of today Elio not eligible for CAFE credits as is technically a motorcycle. Efforts are ongoing to have "autocycles" included in those credits. Once accomplished I could see large amounts of cash coming to EM's coffers.
