Best Time To Buy A Tdi Vw?

Since 2016 TDIs are on ice (no sales in U S for now)
Probably the "fix" will reduce H P
VW has/is currently lowering their price on the 2015- not sure now if they are allowed to sell 'em
What's the opinions of buying a recent (used) TDI now?
Yea I get it, about the emissions, someone will be driving them, probably many who won't go for the recall(s)

I saw an article about it today that claimed the price of a used TDi has already dropped by 13%.

The TDI's are not a bad car ,If I got a super deal I'd buy one and just not do the recall .No emission test where I live

My brother has one and loves it. In fact, I think he met his current wife on a TDi users forum.

If used TDI prices are dramatically dropping , I think it's time for me to shop for one . What's that old saying from Baron Rothschild?

VW promoted their diesel to be clean and powerful .... the reason they had to fudge the test software is when programmed to be within EPA specs its performance is weak .... consequently, they couldn't provide their customers with the strong performance they demand while running a program that passes EPA specs .... I suspect that VW's problems are just starting because there is bound to be a backlash from customers who were sold on performance which will be taken away when their vehicles are reprogrammed

After VW "repairs" these cars. Will the computer reprogramers be able to un-repair them? Restoring power, MPGs and pass emissions. and could they do something similar to all diesels?

the reason they had to monkey with the programming is they couldn't deliver the level of promised performance and stay within the required specs .... if that had of been possible, they would have done so .... as to an aftermarket company restoring the performance (which would bypass the "approved" program), that could certainly be possible .... such tuning has been going on for many years with both gasoline and diesel motors .... I suspect but have no way of knowing that all this publicity will end up causing the feds to to take a pretty dim view of such reprogramming and they will come up with some pretty strong penalties .... but that's just a guess
