This thing really IS just a prototype. Notice how nicked up the dash is under the control knobs and above them, too, and how the paint missed the lower edge of that same plastic piece; I guess they painted it in place, and certainly in a hurry! And yeah, the dash just looks ugly. might want to paint the whole underside and facia of the instrument panel and housing. Like black to reduce glare. Not to mention that AWFUL instrument panel itself.
Our review of the P5 had definitely turned up some fit and finish issues, but It does seem to have done it's job to help define the final product. It seems somewhat trivial to bring the P5 up to the same spec that the E25 will now be given. The funding for that seems to be the biggest accomplishment of the year. I'd say that the primary purpose of the P5 was to help realize the A+ (and AVTM) funding.

I think one for the primary purposes of the E series is to help realize the ATVM loan as these vehicles will demonstrate the ability to mass produce a safe, high fuel efficiency vehicle.

I really don't think there's anything underneath those climate control knobs.

I was pretty sure that they were going to have to throw some of the P5 together to meet the deadline.
Now that the goal is accomplished, I hope they take this back to the shop and work on it for as long as it takes.

Is not having a half-done P5 out on tour going to disappoint some people? Probably.
But would those people be even more disappointed because of further delays?

Personally, I'd rather wait to see a true "final prototype" on tour, or not see one at all.
I did notice that the LA show is the only thing still showing as being scheduled for the tour.
It's going to be interesting to see how they play this out.

from what I understand that is the plan .... one reason they haven't installed insulation is, they need to maintain the ability to take is apart, make corrections, and put it back together ....

it most certainly is

I think I read someplace that after LA, P5 is going back to Technosports Creative for work and won't show up again until the Detroit auto show.

I am hoping that Dakota Digital will offer an aftermarket analog replacement dash panel for the Elio.
Plug & Play would be nice... ( I am sure it would be between $600.00 to $1000.00 )
That Elgin dash will NOT remain in My Elio, no matter what it takes to get rid of it.
