A design like that may work better. There would be no real tongue weight.
No tongue weight only addresses steering/traction issues. 55hp won't move that monstrosity fast enough to keep you from killing yourself in traffic.

If you were goofy enough to want to play rolling road-block you'd kill your transmission.

I never mentioned weight or size, only that it would be a better design yielding virtually no tongue weight.
Do you have transmission data to back up this claim, or simply talking out your .....

Would like them figure out a way to add a 1 inch square tube trailer hitch so we could pull a small motorcycle trailer on extended trips. Yes this will cut down on the mileage, but would be happy getting anything over 50 or 60 MPG on vacation.
I EMAILED THEM AND THEY TOLD ME THE TRAILER HITCH WOULD BE AN OPTION.

Hey, NUB, welcome from Oregon. Let me put this as gently as I can, there are some on this forum who will want to know who, when , where, why, time. . . . . . . You know, all the nitty gritty. You are a very brave soul to post that information without "documentation". I am more than happy to take your word for it. Thanks for emailing them. I hope you enjoy this adventure and our journey to Elio ownership. This forum is proving to be a wild and crazy way to pass the time until we reach our goal. Next year in our Elios! :-) Z

The transmission is ALWAYS the weak link. Vehicles designed to tow are ALWAYS designed with beefier transmissions.

Do you think EM will equip their lo-cost commuter car with more transmission needed than to keep it reliable for it's stated purpose?

So am I talking out of years of mechanical experience and applied logic? Yep

Please post the email. Others who got to listen to Paul Elio said they heard a different story. A lot of people here including me would like it to be tow worthy so please do share the email.
