I've averaged 14.23 MPG over 43,000 Mike's and almost 3 years in my truck. (I pull my trailer rarely)

$45,536.75 in gas (Thanks California premium gas). I paid $42k for the car! I'm not disclosing the amount I spent on modifications & maintenance...

Assuming the Elio could last for a quarter million miles, total expenditures would look slightly different. At least that's my hope. I'll then dump that money into restoring my 67 Mustang.

Welcome Nor Cal Phil from Dry Land I'm from irrigated land right next to Dry Land. My car has 284,000 miles on it, gets 24 miles to the gallon. My commute is 65 miles one way, 130 miles round trip. '07 PT Cruiser with a lifetime power train warranty. Can't sell it. What would you pay for a 10 year old PT Cruiser with close to 300,000 miles on it? I wouldn't give $h!t for one but it is still under warranty so I can't sell it. I'm just waiting for my ELIO which will pay for itself in fuel savings in no time. You spent $45,000 on gas in a $42,000 car. I'm guessing you can see the savings of 84 mpg instead of 21.5 in a $6,800 car instead of $42,000 car? Again Welcome. There are some very knowledgeable people here on all subjects (computers are over my head) I'm a gearhead AKA motor head.

Hell no! lol I try not to ever look at the average mpg computer. It only makes my wallet cry. But she sure is pretty!

It's interesting, but I purchased one of those modules that was supposed to increase our fuel efficiency on my F350. Since I have a milage log on all my vehicles, I checked it out. My initial MPG readout said 12.5 MPG and I actually got 14.5 MPG. After the module, my MPG readout said 16.5 MPG and I actually got 14.5 MPG.

My trip computer states that I average 19.6 mpg . Not especially surprising until you read that I drive a 4 cyl Ford Fusion .

we keep a logbook in each vehicle .... other than something like washing/waxing it, everything that is done to the vehicle .... every tank of gas/diesel, service, repair, can of oil, use of fuel treatment , etc goes in the book .... have been doing since the 60's when we were able to deduct some gas tax paid from out income tax .... those days are gone but he habit of keeping detailed logs remains

3 vehicles, 02 Blazer,04 Sebring convertible and a 09 Colorado with the mileage log from day 1. Tire rotations, oil change and misc. is all logged.

Anderson, what kind of mileage do you get on the Colorado? My '04 (4cyl, extended cab) has consistently gotten 21-22 mpg since I bought it.
