You keep trying to exclude me because I'm only at the $500 level. There's a little $1K elitism here.
LOL. No slight intended. I just don't think there will be enough hours in the day for them to offer test drives to everyone. Well, they could offer test drives but for all of US (there, I'm including you) to get a test drive, they'd have to give one test drive every 8 minutes for a year... 24/7.

If you check a little you will find that Elio has said its retail stores will be about 4000 sq ft.
It will be a showroom with one Elio inside and it will have one manual and one automatic transmission demo unit.
The Elio retail sales locations will not have garages associated with them.
You might want to check how up to date that information is.

Maybe he is busting on his wife for thinking it was a CVT even though it had the +/- for gear shifts? Looks like the Sportage only comes with the 6 speed AT.

I am sure they could make the software change the RPM range on a CVT to fake up/downshifts if they wanted...
My Subaru has shift points, 6 speeds, and manual mode with paddle shifters with a CVT..

Your CVT is not a 6 speed. It technically has infinite speeds. I believe it was in 2012 that Subaru reprogrammed the CVT to "feel" more like it was shifting so that people would quit complaining about the "rubber band" feel. My 2011 Outback does not have the fake shifting feature, but does have paddle shifters that simulate gears for a sportier feel. Also, it is necessary for automatic transmission vehicles to have a selectable low gear in the United States. Not so in many other countries. That's one reason for the paddle shifters.

I know what a CVT is.. They have been around forever.. On industrial machines we had them 25 years ago.. So far I like Subaru's version much better than Nissan's version..

I'm not in favor of a CVT transmission. I'm old enough to remember old Buicks with Dynaflow transmissions, Hated that sound of the engine roaring while the car caught up with the engine.
give us something like the old Hydramatic.

One reason I don't want a CVT transmission might be - look up some cars that have a CVT transmission that has been replaced - the cost is astronomical. Some of the reviews were people that towed trailers and such that might have been too hard to tow, that's when the trouble started.

I don't tow with my car or my last one with CVT.. I used to tow with my F150 but I am done with that.. Never did like towing!
