Hello Elio Friends; I have been a member of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) since about 1971(for motorcycle racing). I am am have been a charter life member, my member # 372901. I called the AMA 614-856-1900 this afternoon, the answering person refered me to someone else when I asked if the AMA was going to interview Elio motors or write an article about them. When I was transfered, I received voice mail and left a detatiled message with my phone number and AMA charter life member number.
With the AMA, I most recently signed up for thei AMA Life Member plus program which includes monthly magazine and roadside assistance for all motorcycles, cars, trucks and RV's. I did notice in the last issue of AMA they had a CanAM Spyder on the inside back cover. Since the Elio is an Auto Cycle, I would think the AMA would be tickled pink to support/promote the Elio Auto Cycle and be ready to protect our rights on the roadways!
In my AMA benifits guide it states their mission statement "The mission of the American Motorcyclist Association is to promote the motorcycling liftstyle and protect the future of motorcycling." "The AMA is the country's premier motorcycle advocacy group, with legislative experts, lobbyist based in Washington , D.C., Ohio and California along with grass roots efforts in nearly every state." AMA has helped/worked with bike ban, untested E15 fuel, motorcycle-only checkpoints, distracted drivers, insurance lobby attacks, high-occupancy vehicle lane access, medical insurance discriminations, etc. Having their lobbyists, I am curious how/what they can/will do for the 2015 Elio 3-wheel Auto Cycle.
Positive thoughts for the AMA to write a positive article about the in the works 2015 ELIO AUTO CYCLE.
Terrence :)

I'm an AMA member as well; though not a charter life member, I have been with them for 20 years so far both as a street rider and at times an Observed Trials competitor. I would hope to see support for the Elio from them, as I really expect that the enjoyment folks get from driving one may well give them a whole new respect for motorcycles on the road!

In the September AMA magazine they have a transporter advertisment from FEDERAL MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT 800-747-4100 ext.2217. They noted AMA members get a discound; here is part of there ad " Plus, with our streamlined online quote process you can get an Quick Quote for one bike, or arrange transport for multiple vehicles with our Custom Quote option, where you can make payment and have your whole shipment set up in minutes. We even offer discounts for multiple bike shipments and to members of several motorcycle clubs!"
When it come closer to my Elio delivery time, I may contact this carrier to compare their delivery cost.
I still do not have a call back from the AMA regarding my pre holiday call to them asking if/when they are going to run an article about the Elio.

I have been riding a 2 wheeler for way to many years. Not into club memberships. I just like the ride and the mpg. But I can imagine a time when the ability of my legs is reduced so it becomes time to think about a 3 wheeler. At 68yo that day is likely closer than I would like it to be. I am already all in for an Elio. Motorcycle or not. This looks to me like an opportunity for the manufacturing industry in the USA to take off again full tilt boogie. Go to it ELIO MOTORS.

John, welcome to the forum where you will find the latest information on the Elio. We are a friendly helpful bunch and look forward to your comments and questions. I started riding in 1972 and am older but not necessarily wiser. There is never an excuse not to be fully aware of your surrounding when you are riding and acknowledging your weaknesses or declining reflexes. Enjoy the Elio experience.
