BTW, a good definitive source for this info.. Designing Tomorrows Cars - Walter Korff 1980
And Robert Q. Riley's book, Alternative Cars in the 21 Century 2003

Snipped:paraphrasing something I have heard Paul Elio say numerous times now; this is not an easy thing to do!

Yup, if it was every one would be doing it, etc. Therein lies some of his advantage
for daring to go where others have tried & failed....... HAPPY HOLIDAYS my fellow crazies!

I think it is cool. There seems to be a lot of cool cars that never seem to get made. Perhaps the deal with China will get the Aptera made(?). It is a neat design. I think this one is too. I am hoping the Elio is the exemption to the rule and it gets made. It helps that it is affordable, IMO.
I wonder what kind of milage the Aptera body style would have had if it had an engine like the Elio will have.

There is a way to relate the two. One has a bigger frontal area, one has a higher coefficient of drag. Both are about the same weight.
Seems pretty likely they would be similar, so my guesstimate with out figures is about 100mpg for the Aptera.
