philosophy may be the wrong word but it's the best I can think of .... since joining this forum I've read numerous comments about EM's corporate attitude toward doing business .... during a conversation earlier today with Jerome Vassallo, VP of Sales at the Elio exhibit on 12-6-14 in Charlotte, NC I got a glimmer into what those posters have been talking about .... to EM, a reservation is a reservation .... with their system, the benefits a $1,000 reservation holder has over a $100 reservation holder is a place in line and the amount of discount money applied to the purchase .... for me it was really good to hear Jerome openly state that they view all "All In" reservations in the same light .... he acknowledged that to some folks a $100 to put down is harder to come by than $1,000 may be to others .... that's the line of thinking behind all "All In" reservations holders getting the same shirt/bumper sticker and when the test drive era dawns all will be handled equally .... to me that's a commendable way of doing business

I don't think it's his altruistic sense of fairness that drives the company policy to view all deposits, no matter their value, but rather the PR number 36k +/- that represents total reservationists, some of whom have been able to be included for a $100.00 refundable deposit. Haven't seen any challenges to the break-down of deposits, the only one which is plainly obvious are those of us with factory "T" and a number.
Want to push that number up to 60k reservations- We each take the $100 refundable option, and bingo!!

I don't think there is any doubt the larger the number of preproduction reservations the better it is for the company .... potential investors have to take the number into consideration .... right now the company website shows :

"Number of current reservations: 36951
( Nov 30, 2014)"

reservation numbers in the 10,000 neighborhood are being posted so a good portion are less than $1,000 .... I'd think that the reinstatement of the 50% Bonus may influence some folks to increase their level of reservation but it won't increase the total number

Yes many reservations holders are less than the $1,000 but I believe that is because they are worried the company will not make it to production. Start up companies have a history of failing, especially vehicle start up companies. The large number of people who have signed up for any deposit amount shows their enthusiasm for the vehicle.

I am confident it will be produced. How many new "concept" vehicles when shown to members of congress, do the members arrange meetings with other members and the heads of ATVM? How many companies after meetings with ATVM are "invited" to apply. This appears to me as tremendous support.

I like to think this car has a huge following that can't afford but some kind of pay plan.. Your news medias just don't really inform of how bad Americans are hurting for jobs. With the complicity of the news media this nation has fallen for leadership from both parties that are no better than that one armed paper hanger that Patton detested so badly. The first thing I want back in the White house when we get rid or this 2 arm paper hanger is the BUST THAT HE HAD THE GALL TO SEND BACK TO ENGLAND.

I'm certain that there is some concern and wouldn't be surprised it you'd find a good percentage of them in the "Want In" group .... to me, that is the smart thing for folks who have such concerns to do .... I don't know that it is the major reason folks in "All In" group put down less than $1,000.... I believe that the vast majority of the "All In" group consist of folks put down what they can afford at the time and many upgrade when it is possible for them to do so .... in addition, I believe that while everyone on the list wants and Elio, not everyone wants one of the first to come down the line .... we put down $100 All In because I'm somewhat paranoid ..:).. I want them to have made 40,000 (50 or 60,000 would be even better) before they make ours .... also I want to have plenty of time to follow reports from folks as to how well the options they have chosen work out in the real world .... in the business world, I believe a reservation is a reservation .... the larger the number of folks who have put down money, the easier it will be for EM to work with suppliers and creditors .... in my mind, EM has developed a very smart marketing system that positions them well in the market

The reservation system is a smart move all the way around. As you pointed out it definitely helps EM get the ball rolling in the first place however these vehicles also provide a huge marketing advantage for EM after they are delivered and on the road as well. The 10's of thousands of vehicles sold to reservation holders will become the largest marketing fleet any new vehicle manufacturer has ever had. Thousands of vehicles will be on the road exposing people to this new vehicle all over the country even before EM's mass marketing campaign kicks off and EM must attract buyers to their new retail centers.

I believe that the RESERVATION theory is needed as part of the LOAN APPLICATION. That being, "Is there a want for this type of vehicle?"

I'll have to research the loan process more. CRS

I'm starting to see a pattern. We reservationists 40k +/- are in truth a very very weeny teeny drop in the buyers market.
We on this forum are even smaller with about (2500?) and even smaller number of active participants. i.e. "Our reality" is constantly being reinforced by each other, with nay sayers met with (supportive)rebuttals (this is for me one of the most articulate, respectful board by far) and we start to see us as the "true believers"
Tomorrow is Friday EM will be sharing their weekly PR, we will start a thread or two if it is informative, share observations and measurements, materials, functionality, price of gas, a couple more thousand posts about door/gas cap/ ground clearance etc. etc., but With each passing day, I personally see the emperor is not fully dressed. I've read some interesting recent comments about time frames and testing that would seem to be pushing production way down the road, which will seem to me to make it more difficult to bring the Elio to market. Hey, but that's just me......
