The only reason I'm not in, even for $100, is that I will be in England for two more years from now. Otherwise, I would have sent the money and considered it like any other investment: no guarantees, some risk of loss, and potential for GREAT PAYOFF!
That is something you and doni share. He is in England now and doesn't know where he will be sent next so he is simply watching and waiting. He used to post but apparently only reads now because I have seen he is on line but no posts. :-) Z

I think there is another group of people that make the decision to take the plunge. The ones willing to take the risk in order to help improve the world, even if it's only a tiny little bit. True, it's still an internal combustion engine but it sips the gas, not gulps and thus helps reduce fossil fuel use. Like I said, not a huge difference will be made but a concrete step that 30K+ people will be making the first year whether it's thought of in that way or not! How many gallons of gas won't be burned as a result? And it's nice that it will not put a huge pinch on the pocket book.

Well said! I think many of us fit in that category.

You don't get the point?

The point is she ended up paying $800 more for the car than the selling price due to added fees. That will happen when paying for the $6800 Elio..
exactly, so what's so unique about this- the OTD price is ALWAYS gonna be higher than the "price" of the car. We, like the rest of the country, will fork out a lot more money than just the car price (in our case $6400 )- Which many believe is now in the neighborhood 0f 7.2k -

We have quite a number of members who have not reserved Elios. These members range from complete skeptics who believe this is a scam to members who are just not willing to accept any level of risk with their hard earned money. As this is an open forum myself, along with many other members, appreciate and welcome all points of view as this adds more flavor to our discussions. :)

The only time I have an issue with members opinions is when they are presented in a manner disrespectful of other members and their opinions however this has definitely not been the case in this thread so far.

Just want to add my (additional) reason to risk the 1K toward this project. Although I see it as something like a "Kickstarter" plan I do and can see this actually getting off the ground. Whether it will be embraced by the masses enough to see the production goal of 250,000 Elios a year is perhaps optimistic but (hopefully) I will have mine and would only have to worry about aquiring replacement parts at that point. Elio Motors is really hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and by breaking ground as the first fully enclosed production vehicle to get over 80 mpg without sacrificing safety, speed and agility they just might.

Disclaimer: I haven't taken the plunge yet. I've thought about it several times, but never pulled the trigger. Perhaps I am too cautious, or perhaps I am ill-informed.

Sell me on any new recent developments or whatever as to why you think the Elio will raise enough capital to make production.

EDIT: made a new post asking for new information, was moved to a thread that hadn't been updated in over 6 months... uhh... not the droids I was looking for...

The move was appropriate. You are asking to be talked into taking the plunge, and a moderator moved your post into a thread called "The Talk Me Into Taking The Plunge Thread".

I won't talk you into taking the plunge. You have to do the research and decide for yourself. Carefully read the terms and conditions for taking the plunge. Read up on the many threads on the running engine, the problems with funding, the video of Paul talking up investors. All the information you need to make an informed decision is on this forum and out in the World. Good luck whatever you decide.

And welcome to the forum. :D

P.S. My folks live in Hot Springs Village. Nice area. :) They won't be getting an Elio. :(

There is no logical reason to talk you into putting $1000 into a non refundable car , that has not been built, That the company does not have even a small percentage of the funds need to start any production. A company that could even lose the building they plan to use if thing don't turn around.
ELIO is some thing you do on faith from the heart. You either support it or sit on the sideline and wait.
Talk you into it , no there is a good chance you would be kissing the cash good by. The difference is I knew that when I hit the send key.
Many reasons to support the ELIO we each have our own.
