I have also decided to give this forum a break untill the IAV engine is up and running in what should be P5. Yes, there is a fair bit of "redundant rhetoric", but there has also been a lot of meaningful dialogue. Untill the Elio team gets a little further down the line, there will continue to be...
Ouch, a new definition of UGLY! 55 years with a stick on tractors, cars, and trucks up to stock and hay hauling flat beds, guess I'm too old to learn how to drive an "auto". Like, "where's the clutch peddle?". Want'a make this interesting, go with a 2 Speed axle!
Hope the "Elio Shuttle" from the airport happens! "Dustoff" - "Nam" USA Med-a-Vac call sign with the right "Huey" on your avatar! New version, a round engine Grumman Goose. What's next? Thanks
I sort'a understand LSD but what is "stability control"? Also, thinking this discussion should be under the engine drive train forum.
Thanks Kuda27 for your reply.
Same here as I use "CC" a lot on distance trips. But, a fast question for anyone: On slick roads the use of "CC" is unsafe as a single wheel can can lose traction faster than most drivers can react; so what if a vehicle is equipped with a lemited slip or positraction(sp?) type differential? What...
Good on you! Gone to change your avatar when it's back on steel? Can only hope the Elio is at least half as durable as the old "popping johnnys"! In the middle of no where, hand propping a mag fired "Cub" engine beats walking home or the embarrassment of search and rescue! How about a really...
Interesting, 2 cylinder, multi-fuel, unstyled Model B (A?) - needs Green Paint. Would produce a really "cool" sound if the engine was sized for an Elio! But, magneto fired engines don't seem to be in favor any more with the exception of gasoline fueled airplane engines.
Try "Zelio's" comments throughout the various forums. She is definately a hard-core Elio fan and like a lot of us in a stacked (all in @?) holding pattern!
Chuckle, as pointed out by redhedman50, Elio might think about a "Trainer" version, some day, with dual controls like sail planes, "Cubs"...
Goofyone, agree totally that two adults or even an adult and child will probably need additional "trip"cargo space unless commercial rest services are used. If rear seat heating ducts are available - one way or another - I'll add them to my "needs" list. Our 4 Toyota vehicles all wear "one...
Now, that's a trip! Still not convinced that I want to pull a trailer. Will look closely at removing the rear seat for camping gear storage and also a spot for one 70-80 lb dog. Might have to build a removable wood platform over the seat attachment system but feel fairly certain that there is...
Adventure! Adventurous road trip!! Do you really want to make a one day "it's all green" trip up the Willamette Valley?? And, after 1767 miles you'll have a really good feel for how the C-A-CC-TH Elio handles. (Smiley face!)
My bad: Fairing (not faring)-An external (metal) structure fitted around parts of an aircraft, car, vessel, etc. to reduce drag.
Fender- A guard over each wheel of a motor vehicle, for example, that is shaped and positioned so as to block the splashing of water or mud.
So, I'de call P versions...
A strip of reflective tape on the leading side of each faring should work without messing up the air flow. Don't know, there may be enough side lighting from the Elios head lights to adiquately illuminate the wheel fairings. This "could be" problem will be tackled after I get my Elio!
Not me, where would my dog sit? In a "blow'up" of the "could be Red Bull", note the airfoil shape of the wheel struts (swing arms?). Don't know what the Elio struts look like but the above "puppies" were made for speed/low drag!
Been a long time since physics class but; for Elio owners driving around town and doing short daily (or otherwise) cummutes the fender design won't be buying you much and they could be replaced with just about anything that is street legal. For distance driving at reasonable highway speeds, the...
Deutsch Drahthaars , versitle hunting dogs but I did hook them up to a sled once - but I got tired of pulling it (smart dogs)! The Elio person proposing a trip from Homer to Dead Horse then on to Mexico doesn't provide an Alaska address. The Oregon resident working at Dead Horse was trying to...
Agree but seems like this was "PE's" idea based on admiration of his fathers Elgin watch face! If it's stock, EM SHOULD offer an optional dash- I hope.
