What are some leading investment experts saying about Elio Motors?
Elio Motors is bringing a vehicle to market that is unlike anything available today. At 84 MPG and $6,800, we will take affordability and fuel efficiency to levels that have never been seen before.
Because we are so unique, we try not to compare ourselves to other companies and vehicles that are already on the market. But, sometimes, people do it for us.
Last week, renowned investment web site Motley Fool featured a blog that compared Elio Motors to Tesla Motors, the electric vehicle start-up from Elon Musk with an approximate $27.4 billion valuation. Here’s a link to the full story.
We hold Mr. Musk and Tesla Motors in high regard – as a fellow start-up, we respect their effort to bring something new and unique to the market. We share a similar retail strategy as Tesla, but the article pointed out many other Elio strengths, too.
Here are a few examples:
Outstanding Supplier Network
Here’s what Motley Fool had to say about Flame-Spray Industries (www.flame-spray.com), for example:
“Elio Motors does make a convincing argument with its technology and business strategies. The Elio is manufactured with trusted and respected automobile suppliers. For instance, Flame-Spray Industries has pioneered a novel thermal spraying process that improves the efficiency of the manufacturing process, and reduces the weight of vehicles -- therefore boosting fuel efficiency.”
Frankly, setting up our supplier network was one of the first and most important aspects of building our business. In addition to Flame-Spray, the article mentions Lear Corporation (www.lear.com) and Henkel (www.henkel.com). But, our supplier team includes more than 30 of the top suppliers in the industry bringing unique engineering and manufacturing expertise that will help us achieve our ultimate goal.
The Elio as an “AND” Vehicle:
Motley Fool also was complimentary of our strategy to be a second commuter car:
“The business strategy is also well conceived. While Elio Motors knows an Elio won't be the primary car for most households, selling at a fixed, low cost of $6,800 will certainly make it worth a second look as a niche vehicle.”
Paul Elio frequently refers to the Elio as an “AND” vehicle. Most commuters, even owners of Minivans and SUVs, drive solo to work every morning. Why waste six or seven empty seats and more importantly, all that fuel? Many people will keep their bigger vehicles for errands on the weekends, or kid’s activities in the evening.
Significant Cost Savings
Obviously, a highly fuel efficient vehicle will provide significant cost savings and Motley Fool agreed:
“The economics could certainly work out for many households. If you're fetching at least 49-mpg driving an Elio, the fuel savings could add up tremendously over the long term, and more than cover the purchase cost.”
Americans are clamoring for a low-cost, highly fuel efficient transportation option. Our combination of supplier partners, our business strategies and the vehicle design and technology are creating something that people love, as evidenced by the more than 25,000 people who have reserved their place in line. But, while we know we are on the right path, it certainly is nice to hear others singing our praise.
