That's crazy! The deer must have had a bad prior experience with raptors. It flat opened a can of whoop••• on the bird. Never seen anything like it...

the only thing that makes sense to me is the sound of an injured rabbit bleats is similar to the ones from a fawn .... the doe that came to the assistance of the bunny may have recently given birth and she reacted .... in short, the hawk was taken down by one ticked off mama ....
