Hitch would be great - thinking - bicycles, camping equipment, misbehaving stepchild, kayak, shopping spree, keg for party, supplies for cross country trip. Assuming the max capacity will likely be 200-300lbs load. And remember with such a light vehicle any extra weight or drag will exponentially effect MPG vs say a pickup truck that already gets only 20 hwy mpg. jus sayin

Welcome Nate.

I don't know about towing with an Elio...you certainly wouldn't be able to tow much weight with it, that's for sure...

You're right. shouldn't tow a lot of weight. If you keep it to around 600lbs , total weight would be equal to the weight of a Geo Metro.
Just because a vehicle can pull a trailer doesn't mean it can safely "stop" a trailer.

granted there is a difference between towing and hauling .... I'm toying with the concept of trying to mount a spare tire, throwback to Continental Kit days

A aerodynamic side pod on the right side of the car maybe? I oddly pictured an Excalibur. It would look weird on the Elio. Maybe a aerodynamic cargo roof rack could hold a spare for long journeys

To me, on the Elio, this is the best location to mount a spare tire. Jerome V. said the rear wheel cover will have a hinged access door on the left side. This would create zero additional drag & I think there is plenty of space there. (pat pending) ;) :D

That looks like a great solution

Seems by this pic it would have to be on the left as it would not fit due to swing arm

Two sidepods would give Elio the illusion of being a 4 wheeler. LOL The horns & fender lights should be Elio options..........and the headlights to get wheaters the legal spacing required in the UK.

if there isn't room for an OEM size spare, how about one of the space savers .... hopefully, it will never be needed but if it is, a space saver could get you to where you can find a full size spare
