There is a build it yourself teardrop for sale. It's called Chesapeake light craft. It's mainly a boat building do it yourself with lessons but just started building teardrop trailers on the cheap and the finish of the trailer and the layout is a blank page! They use marine grade plywood and they cut them into puzzle pieces and use fiberglass sheets and epoxy to seal and cover the wood for complete weatherproofing without having to paint it, I plan to though to color coordinate with my Elio. website http://www.clcboats.com/teardrop. I think its light less than 50lb tongue weight.

Welcome to the Elio Owners Forum from a neighbor to the north in the Pacific NW

Cute little camper; now all you have to hope for is the EM does end up offering a hitch option (not available from EM yet).
I priced out a fairly basic one and it came out to about $3K which is 43% of the price of the Elio; that will have to be an option that comes a little later, but good idea.

I was looking at one of these....250 lbs and very quick setup and takedown for road trips. Plus you can pull the camping components out and have a storage trailer.
