And I just got my first pair of bifocals yesterday. :(

I only need glasses for things related to letters .... like reading letters, writing letters, finding my way out of the house so as to drive to the Post Office ..:rolleyes2:..I've been bifocals since before I started to school .... have been wearing trifocals for well over 30 years .... mine are the old style with lines, tried the ones with out lines a few years ago and they made me physically sick ....

If it's written or typed on paper I needs my bifocals. My arm just isn't long enough anymore. Only need the other part of the glasses if I wanna be able to see peoples faces at a distance. Can't use either to read computer screens or the displays in the truck. I've almost busted my ass several times since getting them going down the house stairs.

that's the reason I had to go to trifocals .... the middle lens is set at computer screen/vehicle dash length ..... the top for distance .... the bottom for close reading/work .... for me they work well

Tried trifocals before I retired. Could never get used to them. But had to deal with them.
Now I have my set of bifocals that are OK for distance and good for the computer and my other set that are good for distance and good for reading.

LOL. Jeez, scare a guy much? I just got them yesterday. I brought them to work here but didn't wear them. I wear my regular ones that are for far away. I know the bifocals make text close clearer but my arms are pretty long! :D
Been there, done that

Why don't you all just play it safe and get an automatic chair installed on your stairs... geez :D

It's not a problem because I can't find my specs most days anyway

My wife is even worse - she picks up my specs by mistake and complains about them when she cant see. We did a car rally a few years ago. She was navigating and she kept missing our turns. She blamed her glasses until I looked across and told her that there were no lenses in the frames. One lens was at the bottom of her handbag and the other one was on the floor of the car!

I tried the lineless trifocals and I hated them, especially if you were looking where you were walking.

Willie

as noted earlier, a few years ago I let a glasses salesman talk me into ordering the lineless trifocals .... I did so only after being promised that if I didn't like them they would replace them for free .... that's just what happened .... I simply couldn't make the transition
