Welcome to Elio Owners! Join today, registration is easy!
You can register using your Google, Facebook, or Twitter account, just click here.Right, a mirror that would be right in front of you; that would stop the visor from swinging down; block part of your forward view, and you get to look at your self all the time you drive it.
Back up camera ?Looks to me like a solution looking for a problem. The Elio will come with 2 rear view mirrors. Why would you need a third?
Well then...an Elio is NOT for youTraffic situational awareness is the only reason for mirrors, period. That the side mirrors actually cross or overlap each other at approximately a car length or 2 out the back really would seem to be adequate for rear viewing. The real enemy of traffic awareness both front back and all round is being seated low too low in traffic. In my van I'm twice as able to see all lanes plus the relational speed between all vehicles all around me. With the exception of Simi tractor trailers, I feel pretty much aware of most positions at all times. In a low sitting car, not so much. Lack of view leaves me stuck behind a slow poke because I can't see if its him or the car in front slowing everything down. I also suffer from not seeing enough to comfortably make the move to another lane. In a low slung car any unusual traffic slowdowns of developing traffic blockage can sometimes only be detected by the brake lights of the immediate car in front. I just don't like being locked into a lane because I can't see far enough ahead or behind other cars.
Now if someone wants to invent a micro camera that will sit on some kind of antenna about 6 feet above my cab, you've got my interest. Especially if it can be panned around from front to back on some kind of servo. I understand that even in wwII B29s controlled turret guns that way including the gun camera.
Should be simple; the wires come out of the base; just fish them down the pillar, out into the dash area, and hook it up to power and your video feed (be it cameras, or tablet, a phone or a computer.Coss-
trying to remember lefty Lucy, i.e. how much technical skill(s) would be required to install this unit- it looks like a perfect solution
Actually I've found a couple of periscope options; I want to connect it to a monitor in the back of the headrest so the passenger can see forward or anywhere else. Shouldn't be that hard to do; and those headrest monitors are cheap.Maybe a periscope option.Just funning around.
