Just to clarify, the Eco button puts the car into max gas saving mode and turning it off lets you paddle shift? (The Elio is gonna have paddle shifters?)
That's not what I said at all; first off I said the ON/OFF button for your headlights is next to the ECO button on the lower right; as in that's where the ON/OFF button is located.
I included that EM had said something about paddle shifters might be an option, it's going on a mention from EM about a month ago, and they haven't said anything else about it since.
I did not say anything about the ECO and the paddle having anything to do with each other and I have no idea how you figured it did.

Did you have to take the steering wheel off to install it?
Not the steering wheel, but I had to remove the steering column cover to replace the factory wiper stalk with the Area 451 unit. I'm still amazed at the amount of engineering the guys at Area 451 put into the unit. It was the company's sole product and clearly a labor of love. Since the smart is throttle-by-wire, they even developed a downloadable set of different pedal maps, including a BOOH mode (bat out of hell).

I tagged you to see if you could clarify overall. I wasn't implying you said something directly about anything.

Have you heard if the Eco button will be included in all vehicles, or is it just a special option? And as far as that goes, what is the purpose of the Eco button and what's the difference of it being on vs off?

As was explained to me when buying a new car, the ECO mode causes the transmission to shift at lower RPMs. If it is off, the shifts occur at higher RPMs.

For me , back seat comfort is moot . I will never be there , my wife will never be there and the space will most likely be used for storage . Groceries and such . My Elio will truly be an "and" vehicle . Solo excursions and around town fun.
BTW ... Loving the black
I love it to; and I can see large investments in cleaning supplies shortly after taking delivery. :becky:
