If I went to the dealer and bought the interment cluster that's in my Sonic, would it just plug in?

An "Options list" has been in development for some time & the sooner it's released the better
we all will feel, for sure.............. :)

I read a article somewhere about Elio Motors making more then just one P5, that a set/group of P5's were going to be built... (hinted at 10-15)... so they could be shown with different colors and toys/upgrades...and they would be used on tours for going on test driving all over the U.S. as they go coast to coast for Elio shows...

Again this is NOT a fact, it is just a late night article I ran across...

Has anyone else seen this article or heard how many P5's will be built or are being built at this time...these would be the hand made ones, made on the east coast some where, not like the production robotic crash test runs they are making in the fall...

Proud to be... an Elio owner... soon...#2225

I had not heard this before and would be interested to read it if anyone does know where to find the article.

The progression as I know it is that after the P5 is built this summer it will undergo some testing to determine whether it is acceptable or they need to work on the design some more and build a P6. When the final design is signed off on then a series 15-25 or so pre-production 'E" prototypes are planned for testing and final development of all aspects of this vehicle prior to production. It appears these E builds will not come off the assembly line in Shreveport but will likely be hand assembled by Technosports in Michigan. Most of E build batch will ultimately end up being crashed tested.

This next part is where I have heard something similar, but with some key differences, to what was posted above. I would consider this to be a RUMOR at this point as while it is plausible I just do not have enough confidence in the sources at this point. What I have heard is that as part of the assembly line configuration and employee training processes a number of pre-production vehicles will roll of the line in Shreveport, LA. I have heard that these final pre-production vehicles are the ones that will be used in the Elio tour that will feature test drives.

A Facebook entry claimed the P5 was going to be shown to the world on May 8. I haven't seen pictures here so I suspect that didn't happen. Anybody know anything more about when the P5 might debut?

I have not recently heard a timeframe for the P5, from an official or reliable source, that was more specific than sometime this summer.

Based on comments earlier in the year we have been expecting to see something in the June/July timeframe. Hopefully they follow the same pattern as the P4 and we will get updates on the Elio Blog starting a month or so before the vehicle is actually ready for its debut.

I think most of is will be satisfied if it is close to the prototypes and delivers the four Elio promises. We may not prefer all the little details (SB dash for example) but not annoyed enough to discourage us from buying it. We are all attracted to the basic concept

Mostly yes. All that's been said by EM employees is that it will run a "scaled down OBDII system". The diagnostic connector should be standard OBDII or else it wouldn't allow techs to plug in existing scanners.

The Sonic cluster likely uses a proprietary connector but it utilizes the OBDII data. If you were handy enough to make an adapter you could plug it in.

No telling what "scaled down" means but most functions would work. Some of the higher functions might not.

There would not be any need to "recalibrate" as the OBDII data stream is standard.

I kind of gathered that from the bits and pieces on the forum, but I was looking for someone to confirm. Thanks.

I would prefer the P4 dash, but I'll take whatever they put in the final model. I'm more concerned about whether or not I'd be looking at it through a helmet in the states I have to travel through to get it home. Hopefully they resolve those issues.
