taken from link below : The first is the production version of the LiveWire electric prototype it first debuted in 2014. The modern cruiser is set to go on sale next summer with a boldly-styled battery-pack and electric motor combination, Brembo performance brakes and a monoshock rear suspension. Range and power have not been revealed.

If it sounds like the bike they had on tour a few years ago, it'll make some noise. When I seen the bike, they wouldn't tell me but I guessed that they are using straight cut gears in it because it sounds exactly like that. When I mentioned that, the guy just smiled. At least on the dyno they have and when they guy took off on it, it made a pretty good amount of noise.

Agreed, it does sound like gear whine.

I really liked the Livewire concept. At the time they were touring the demo around I was riding a Sportster 48 and if the Livewire had been produced and had enough range for my commute I would have picked one up in a heartbeat. It does have a whirring sound that HD said they accentuated on purpose. You can hear it on Jay Leno's video during his ride, it is still pretty quiet when on the road. On dyno videos it seems loud, though.

While I have had piped sportbikes and cruisers, I found that when I was my most zen was all alone on the back roads heading up 38 towards Big Bear in CA. Just me and my bike among the sun, wind, and curves. There was no room for worry or stress, just concentrating on my beautiful surroundings. When I close my eyes it is still my happy place. I bet having a nearly silent electric motor would only help with focus and being able to enjoy the ride.

But, I gave up on riding two years ago after one too many close calls on my commute. So now I get to fantasize about electrifying my Miata once I have an Elio commuter in my driveway :D

Of the 65K people who have some (or a lot of) investment in Elio, there has to be someone who knows someone who can get the Elio on Jay's show. He has had preproduction 3 wheelers on before and they were a lot further from being a going concern than Elio is. From all I have seen on his show he will at the very least like it and probably love it. Instead of just chasing investors someone from Elio should try to chase Jay a little bit. It would pay big time.

If Jay drives one it better be the validated fine tuned production Elio. Jay is a fit, finish, handling, and performance minded guy. A bumper falling off or the whatever the outdated engine is in the current vehicle may not provide for a quick and nimble ride or make for a positive Jay Leno review.
