apparently unhooking the battery did reset the Check Engine light in our 2011 Silverado 1500 mentioned above .... that truck has been traded and its NC license plate has been turned in .... our new 2026 Silverado 2500HD is parked in our driveway .... she's dirty because tomorrow (Thursday) it will be driven to the fellow who will apply a ceramic coating doesn't want the new ones he works on to be washed by any dealership .... he prefers to do it himself .... Friday morning we head to Myrtle Beach, SC and plan to return home on the following Monday .... the weather forecast is kind of iffy but we hope he will be through with our truck by the time we get back .... so far, we've driven her about 50 miles today and we are well pleased with both its ride and handling ....

Nice looking truck!! Post pics after the ceramic coat.

Did you name the truck??

Cora was the name of my last commuter car (back and forth to work). Once I retired and sold (worn out) Cora, I stopped naming my cars -- don't know why, though. Perhaps the long commutes required more of a companion??

Look GREAT!! Really sharp looking truck!!

If I can make a suggestion... watch a video (maybe youtube) on how the spare tire comes down. That way you aren't along the side of the road attempting to read the manual and trying to insert peg A into slot B, etc. Yes... that happened to me and it was a 110 degree day. Having a flat is bad enough, not knowing what the engineer was thinking when he/she designed the spare tire system is another.

How about some pics of the gauge cluster, dash, screen (if equipped)??

kind words and suggestion appreciated .... I have to download the owner's manual into the truck's computer .... when I figure out how to do that, the spare tire is one of the areas I hope to study .... will do on the dash

I've been wondering about mileage .... with this officially being a work truck, they don't don't say .... this morning we took it on a little over 100 drive which brought the truck's mileage to 250 ... we drove on a mix of two lane county roads and on I-40 as well .... the dealership told me to keep it under 2,000 RPM's for the first 500 miles and I did so .... I learned several things .... first, she cruises effortlessly 80 MPH at 1700 RPM'S .... a few other observations:

1. she has a 10 speed tranny but I have no way of knowing what gear she was in while doing 35 to 45 MPH got 14 to 14.5 MPG

2. while doing 70 to 75 MPH she got 15 to 15.5 MPG

3. MPG's really fell once the speed got to the upper 70s her MPG's dropped rapidly

4. no sign of any engine/tranny stress at any speed up to 80 (didn't go any faster so as to keep the engine under 2,000 RPM's)

we don't plan to tow our camper until late in October .... my hope is she will get around 10 MPG while towing it
