How Far Is Your Trip?

Jeff Porter

Mine is almost the same as yours Danno... 770 miles, 11.5 hrs. I'm on the fence... not sure if I'd pay to have it shipped to me, but it might get dropped off 85 miles away at a city on the interstate. If a person rented a car, you'd have to pay for a taxi from the rental car place/hotel to the plant in Shreveport. I'll have to do some calculations to see which would be cheaper, $750 delivery or renting a car, staying in a hotel. True, wouldn't get a plant tour if I get it delivered. Decisions, decisions.;)

It is a dilemma for some of us. Do we bear the extra expense to be part of this historic development and pick it up at the factory, do we have it shipped to our home, or pick it up at distribution center. I don't feel any pressure to make that decision until I absolutely have to.

1570 miles by the direct route on map quest. 24 hrs of drive time. The bean counter in me says that the delivery fee is a good deal. Something else is whispering Adventure...
Oh my do I understand that dilemma. I love the idea of the adventure but can the pocket book handle the expense? I have put the message out to the Universe so we will see what the results are. Wish me luck because I do love a great adventure. LOL :-) Z

Do I fly down? Or do I ride the dog to save a few bucks. Will I save anything? will have to look at the options. The drive back is too far for one day. There are a number of places along the way that offer refuge for the night...

With a thunder boomer outside what better time to do a little travel planning. The train
http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak
Second most affordable to most expensive. takes days to get there. I love riding the rails.
The Plane

I can get there in one day for about 400 bucks. I hate to fly these days, my prosthetic bits set off the alarms at the security check points.
The Dog

Wins on affordability. Hundred bucks for an advance ticket gets there in one day 14hr 25min

My favorite is Amtrak because I meet so many interesting people even though I have to stay downstairs in the handicapped area. Do not care for the bus or flying. So it is Amtrak for me or let them deliver to me. Time will tell which it will be. :-) Z
