Does anyone know if you need a motorcycle license in Texas and Oklahoma. I live I'm Lawton and that would seem to be the only hickup in an exciting vehicle.
On 7/25/14 a major in the THP said no. Unfortunately I can't read my own scribbled note so can't tell you his name. Oklahoma is unknown at this point so I suspect yes. I believe if you live and are licensed in a state that does not require it, most states will honor that unless you become a resident. :-) Z

I sent an email inquiry to DPS, and they confirmed currently a motorcycle endorsement is required.

If they plan to challenge it in the Oklahoma legislature, when are they going to act? It's by no means a sure thing and the only have the 2015 session left. Who is listed as their supporters in the house and senate?

I just downloaded the Motorcycle Operators Manual for Oklahoma. On page 48, the Three wheel supplement section it reads. "The following vehicles are not included in this definition, and therefore testing requirements may not be applicable: Automotive hybrids, Vehicles with automotive controls or seating, vehicles with front or rear mounted engines (engines must be mounted mid-frame below the rider to be considered motorcycle-based), vehicles with enclosed or semi-enclosed riding compartments." So it would seem to me that in Oklahoma we are OK not to have a motorcycle license. At least that is my interpretation.

That would be great. However, I sent the question to oklahoma's DPS and this is the response I got Comment

You will have to pass both class D and motorcycle test to operate this vehicle. Anything with less than 4 wheels is considered a motorcycle in Oklahoma. Thank you

I like your interpretation better, but "may not be applicable" is a lot different then "does not apply"
