This will cheer you up a little bit. In today's blog, EM states that the surplus inventory now on sale is worth $17 million dollars. They also state that it represents only 15% of the total surplus inventory that they can sell. Assuming the value of the stuff is evenly divided (a large assumption), that puts the total value of the surplus inventory at $113 million. That will go a loooong way towards filling the gap needed to reach production.

The sale of that equipment gives EM the money they need to complete development of the engine and vehicle as well as leaving them debt free sitting on cash simply waiting for a partner. This is the kind of thing that looks really good if you are an investor, or the government, as EM has all their ducks lined up nicely except for the rest of the money.

EM is nowhere close to the insolvent mess many of the naysayers are trying to portray them as being. :)

Well. they'd better get moving on selling it ... and hope the evaluation was a good one. Time is flying.

Below are two interesting articles.

http://www.wfmj.com/story/27870423/...-efforts-timing-of-funding-sources-to-dictate

http://www.waff.com/story/27863047/elio-motors-announces-delay-production-expected-to-start-in-2016

One of them say:
"Elio also took time to explain one of the latest developments, saying they have finished building the engine that will run the vehicles.
The company was under a deadline to fill 1,500 jobs by the end of the year or face financial penalties. But the entity they made the agreement with, Racer's Trust, has granted Elio Motors a 6 month extension"

Seems to me this is the difference between a marketing person and a true manager running the show. A Marketing type leader tells people what they want to hear. They seldom deliver on time or budget. A real manager lives in the real world they set goals and meet them. ELIO is all about marketing no substance behind it.
The surplus equipment is left behind stuff no one had use for.. If there were buyers lined up at the door it would have been sold long ago. Anyone buying it now is going to be looking for huge discounts.
I had hoped ELIO could pull it off. The business model just did not work. Lack of securing funds kills many new ideas. ELIO is just one more on the list.
I chose to believe ELIO when they gave the impression the lack of a Government loan was not a deal breaker. It is clear now it was a major deal breaker.
I read where someone said" at least we have an engine".. No we have a prototype engine that is not running yet nor anywhere near ready for a chassis that has not been built.
ELIO wanted to believe in the dream . Just like many of us the vision was blurred . I bear Paul ELIO no ill will. He tried. In no way do I accuse him of running a scam or fraud. I threw common sense to the wind when I hit the send key on $1000 , the lost of it was at least excepted before I did.
The sad part is not the loss of the $1000 but the loss of the dream . I was really looking forward to the ELIO. The ELIO bumper sticker an T shirt will be added to the box of good ideas that just did not work out, they won't be the first nor the last to go in that box.

Just another "Elio Urban Myth"...

EM blog "says"...really...just more misinformation that Elio Motors wants the public to believe...

Mr Elio...it's time to refund the "nonrefundable" deposits to those that wish to wish wash their hands of this fairy tale...
