Wife got me two Polaroid dash cameras. I haven't had time to install yet. I got me some adhesive wire clips so I can run power wire along windshield. I am hoping it is good quality. A camera would have been useful in the 4 major wrecks I've had. They were all other driver's fault. Good thing I had a witness when other driver ran red light. God blessed me when lady(not her fault) crossed median on highway, tried a U-turn, and I hit her in the rear with my passenger side bumper. Wreck totaled 3 cars but thankfully no one was seriously hurt. Thank God for that 4-door Chevy Caprice(totaled), but I only had a slightly pulled back muscle.

Wow, glad everyone is ok. That's exactly why I got a dash cam; I think insurance companies should make them mandatory; it would really help with the "he said, she said" and the stories that change after the people leave and friends and other "helpful" people convince them to change their story to make it look like someone else's fault.
Which model of Polaroid?

I have one of these in my truck mounted under my rear view mirror:

https://www.mobius-actioncam.com

Cost me $70 on eBay plus the cost of a 32GB microSD card. Worked quite well up until the last firmware update. Now it won't record more than 3GB's before it just starts flashing. I will revert if I can't find a newer firmware that fixes the issue. The previous firmware worked great and I feel like an idiot for updating.

I spliced into my mirror's 12v auto-tint/compass power and put in a 5v converter to supply power. It does have a battery inside it that will last awhile. I have mine set to start recording on ignition start and turn off 60 seconds after ignition off. It records video in 5 minute intervals and automatically writes over the oldest interval when the drive is full. Lots of image tweaking is available if you have the patience. The setup is done with a Windows/Mac utility. Very easy to update the firmware and change settings (and archive those settings if you want to restore or use on another camera). Does full 1080p video and has audio. Depending on who you buy from, it comes with a mounting clip and some accessories. I can disconnect mine and slide it out in a couple seconds. I've had it a couple years and I've only had to replace the battery once. I replaced it with a super capacitor which doesn't have the same run time, but doesn't wear out. Since I only need the battery for a minute after ignition, it give me plenty of time (you do need some power to keep the clock up to date if you care about that).

I chose this one because of price and picture quality. It's very popular with the RC crowd. They mount it on all manner of boats, planes, drones, etc...

It would be nice if it had GPS, but honestly, I have a video of where I was at, so it's really kind of moot. It does have time/date stamp on the video.

I had my first two-car accident back in July, and wouldn't you know it, the camera was in the seat next to me because I had made the power cord to short and it stopped working. Accident was my fault anyway, so not like it really mattered. :(

I like this camera so much I bought a second one for my motorcycle, but I haven't mounted it yet.

I will check it out tonight after work and post model. I know it was hard to register it as you could only do it via postcard(I enclosed it in envelope) with small boxes to fill out. It is me, or is everything shrinking to mice type?
