Preaching to the Choir!

That is what I fear happens on this website. We all reinforce each other how great the Elio is and we believe all the rest of the world sees it the same way. I fear we may have made a mistake. Neither auto show (NY and LA) produced the large number of reservations we expected. It looks like the rest of the world may not be as enthused as we are about the Elio. It will be interesting if there is an upswing in reservations as a result of the TV advertising ad. I am worried.
Again, I also think that the stock markets taking a major dump is having a huge effect on reservation rates.

Me? Being part of our little pro-active choir here... I think that it's all the more reason to buy an Elio.
If much of my retirement gets wiped out, I'll have to make smart decisions now to have any quality of life then.

I am surprised not much of an uptick happened from either show. I think the ads will help and hurt. People will look into Elio and see negative articles about it. Others will maybe join in or at least see the potential of Elio.
I hope the negative articles is part of the reason for no dramatic upswing in reservations. This effect would go away once production starts.

Perhaps we need a picture of Obama, Hillary, and Trump debating from inside their Elios.

I haven't heard of any plans to make a bulletproof/blast resistant/toxic gas proof Elio with run-flat tires yet.
So I don't know if your idea would work. :becky:

Once they are out on the streets people will be clamoring for one. I think those that bought 2 might be able to sell 1 and essentially get one free.

The Elio 's production has been pushed back a lot. I'm sure that has turned a lot of people away or made them weary of reserving one. However, I stand by my original statement, seeing them on the road is what will make sales.

I don't think we made a mistake being enthusiastic about the Elio concept. It's difficult to expect others to get equally as excited about an incomplete P5. If the P5 and a couple E builds were touring the country doing ride and drive events............that would get more test driver media response and people excited about the concept. See it, feel it, drive it. TV advertising is only effective if you have a product to advertise and sell. It's a simple vehicle design so I don't understand all the time required to build a completed prototype and finalize specs.. That's what I worry about.

Most people can't bring themselves to put money down on a concept vehicle with the new startup company stating no guarantee our vehicle will ever be manufactured. Who the heck does that? lol

For most of the people that I've discussed this with the key problem is that they are not in production. Once they hear that their interest dramatically drops. Most people just put it in the "concept car" perspective that the big auto makers have got most of us so accustomed .... dreaming on. I just want to be driving something that will get me to/from work/play/chores that is appropriate since I'm alone most of the time when driving.

It'd be like making a choice to go on vacation while dragging your house with you versus a small RV. Functionality and practicality for the right price is my main interest. I like my F150 a lot but feel ridiculous using it for to/from work. So far the Elio is the only thing that fits what I'm looking for....now if it can only make it to production.

We have to remember that early on, it was common belief that very few people would be interested in the Elio. So then the public events with the sit-in demos went into effect. We all did and completed that work. Now it's plain as day the only limit to huge sales is the product availability at around the promised price. Creeping along how it is now will still hit 50k inside of 30days.

Once this thing is financed, and the production car can be delivered on a reliable schedule, Paul will get his 240k reservations, no problem at all. The Elio has all the attributes that will eventually satisfy 99% of the worries.

So it's funding that is key, and that does need the completion of testing the E series, crash, mileage, handling. I think to some degree, what is said on-line and even current reservation rates, it's all secondary. Satisfying investors and especially the ATVM program is all that maters now. And frankly they don't care about on-going public debate(with-in limits), it's what the business and milestone progress is doing that counts(for now).

No-one has summed it up that well for some time.

I think Paul himself should surprise reservationist #50,000 with a prize.

In fact, I think the occasion begs for a celebration. Now that's a great and inexpensive publicity opportunity!
