I like and can thankfully read a paper map. I don't know how familiar you are with the ADC brand maps which had fantastic grid coordinates. I am a delivery driver of a pizzas for a national chain and I use Google Maps. I have it set to a terrain mode, which makes my map lifelike, but the system also gives me options on routes, displays traffic issues (delays) with different colors, and also will re-route me due to closures.

I won't be getting the infinite skyz system when i eventually get my Elio, the thing that is piquing my interest though is the automatic transmission upgrade from a manual, and a upgraded stereo system :)

Yea, we have had people trying to locate us, up here in the mountains using all kind of different GPS systems, google maps, etc.... they seem to always wind up some 18 miles from the address up a dirt road where no one lives.......

Not so true. You can use Google Maps without a phone connection. You go to the app while on wifi and download the map area you want (without using cell connection). Then, while driving, your phone doesn't have to download the map as you go and it simply uses the info from the gps receiver to show you the right spot on the already downloaded ap. It's pretty cool and keeps the phone cool as well since it isn't trying to download maps constantly.

Never done that with my phone. I'll have to look into it.

...but, getting back to Skyz... How would you attach Skyz to wifi as you suggested? I'm told this is not possible, and that it would require a dedicated 4g connection of its own.

I'm 95% positive that the Skyz system has it's own 4G connection, and this is what it uses to provide WiFi to other devices in the car. I think the only way to eliminate 4G from teh Skyz would be to stop paying the bill on it.

Exactly, which is why the , "no problem just connect to wifi" does not work for me.

4G is not really that fast; here's a snippet from Wireless World:
4G Speed.gif

I have Comcast Business at home in the 25/12 speed package.
So my wireless is the same speed.
They also offer a 50/25 and a 100/50 speed package (more if you're willing to pay for it, and it ain't cheap).

When they say the wireless is fine, they mean, load it up beforehand; but don't expect wireless on the road.

I just did a test with my T-mobile phone.

Assuming you do not want to use 4G, I wonder if Skyz system will allow you to connect to your home wifi or other wifi spot to update maps, and monitor the camera system.
