if you fly in an airplane, you are probably trusting your life to several peices of software. I hope the software for those cars are being built to the same standards. Don't think I would want to own one, more thinking about sharing the road with them.
The hacking thing is easy enough to avoid, use "sneaker net" for updates.

Probably a lot tougher to build for a car than a plane.
Used to have a pilots license. SEL for those who know.
Can you imagine the cost for a car if it was built to aviation standards?

Personally, I'm all in favor of the "unconnected" car. I like to drive; actually enjoy it. If money were no object, my interest doesn't lie in a Ferrari or something similar, my car of choice would be a Caterham 7, which is about as basic a vehicle as you can get.
