Minus the $300 for locking it in. I budgeted for 10K. Should still be close with TTL.

I don't think there's been a car built on the planet that has used SAE nuts and bolts for about 20 years. Only thing on a car that is not metric is the wheel diameter and wheel width. Other than that, it's a simple change of the readout of the dash of you want metric of not.

As for IAV coming out with new nuts and bolts to enhance mpg, I wonder if they are talking about the aluminum fasteners that BMW started around 2006 (they use them to bolt the magnesium/aluminum block together). I can't imagine Elio using titanium fasteners and jet nuts on a $7300 car. Just the cost of them alone would out price the car. After that, I can't see how much lighter they can get. It would be cheaper for Elio to just make all of the body panels out of Chinese sourced carbon fiber. If IAV and Elio wanted to go after something worthwhile, they should have hooked up with the Polimotor. Amaco spent a bunch of money back in the 80's on it and it was even used in racing for a while. In the end, a pretty light motor for the output. There has been talk about the Polimotor 2 but it seems to have kind of died.

Thank for the info

My latest trip down the aisle cost me way more than that, and she keeps costing me more every day. Oh well, till death do us part ;)
Just remember, when you come up with the total, minus your deposit and any other bonuses that you have; the total will always look better :becky:
