Even if charging was free, it would take more than half a million miles to make up the difference in fuel costs cost between the base price of a Tesla Model 3 compared to an Elio. Unless you have a very unique use case, I doubt the Tesla will be the more practical choice.

Oh, agreed on that point, but you made a blanket statement saying " Tesla (I assume that's what you mean) would not work if you wanted to go on a long trip.", but it will.

That was someone else. I didn't (and wouldn't) make that statement, Ahs.

A Tesla will definitely work for a road trip. Although, there is an argument that the range is a bit short and recharge time too long right now to make it equivalent to a gas vehicle. All else being equal, an hour of charging every 200 miles would add around a half day of travel time on a trip across the US compared to gas fill ups. That can be mitigated somewhat by stop selection at the cost of the freedom of route planning. But the issue seems likely to become much less significant as range increases and charge times decrease with newer battery tech in the next few generations of vehicles.

I was able to sit in the Elio at the Detroit Auto show In the discussion about auto cycle none of the other auto cycles have more than one prototype and some only have drawings. Elio is far ahead. At the show I suggested that to the staff there that Elio sell body to Myers Motors an electric car company. And that Myers motor work out some way of helping with financing saving Myers all the research and knowledge that Elio already has. Could be a win win. I sill believe we will have a Elio. I is better to live with Hope than not.
