Convertibles made sense before A/C and skin cancer. I see no reason for an Elio soft top. Big windows and a little cabin will make for plenty of wind and sun if wanted. Also at 54 inches high, I think it is sleek enough already as hard top. Too skinny for a moonroof to make sense in my opinion also.
Going the other direction. I would pay for a tinted windows option. It has to be done subtly though. I see slightly tinted drivers OEM windows in CA all the time, even though the law says nill.

That for the tinting you do after you take delivery, the factory tint, in the glass (like on mini-vans and wagons) are different.
When you go to the glass shop / tint shop to get your windows done, they know the rules the state has; they can be held responsible for putting too dark a tint on your vehicles. The whole reason they put limits on it, is so your not sitting there with a gun in hand and the cop that pulled you over can see in or what your doing. The reflective surface rules are so you don't sun blind someone else. These are just common sense things.

As for doing it yourself; well you get what you pay for. I've seen "done at home" tint jobs; some, really good, most of them, really bad.

Agree with all that and more.
The reason I would really love and pay for a OEM tinted glass option, or even better if Elio comes standard with tinted.

It seems like OEM could around 70% or less for all glass, I don't know.

I have a place that does mine; and have already worked a deal that they will tint it for free, and I loan it to them for local shows.
No I'm not giving them the keys, I take it to the show, and they get it from there; then I have to pick it up after the show.
I get free tint (and some other goods), they get a unique car for the shows, and I'll get into all the shows for free; one hell of a deal!.
