A lot of the kids around here are farm kids or small town teens. They drive pickups and like to hunt and fish. Most of the ones at college (McNeese State University) drive daily either commuting or just going somewhere. The varieation of cars is amazing. Pickups seem to be the most popular but I see a lot of the tiny cars as well as the fancy ones. Some of them have rich papas and drive Stangs and Comaros. I think quite a few would love to have an Elio for the uniqueness as well as the affordability. Every location is different and thus the interest level will be diverse. Go Elio?

I think he would have to sell at about $2 to get any volume. If he gets $10,000,000 it could be enough to do testing and spark interest.
If he were $10M away, it would already be done. You're off by at least a factor of 20 and more realistically 50. Testing a prototype won't really have value beyond research value and getting to a production version to test for investment and marketing is where we're at now. We're looking for a bridge, not an inflatable raft.

Currently, others are already making electric trikes and soon, there will be a few more out there that others will want to buy. Waiting around for Elio to get an angel investor and the market becoming something that could easily turn into electric only is probably not the best thing to do. In 3-5 years a two passenger trike just might be able to make it 400 miles on a tank of electric. At that point, no need for ICE. Then there's the Chinese that are so much about electric that they will be funding lots of R&D on energy storage. They want to get away from ICE and coal because of the growing problem they have on their hands.

The Chinese will power their electrics with their coal powered power plants...

The car culture for kids is different today. I got my learners permit on my 16th birthday. My son is at University and has no desire to get a license. I bought him a truck and would pay his insurance. He comes home by train. He prefers Uber. His summer job has no parking, which also is a factor. Most of friends do not have licenses either.

Well we better short GM, Ford and Toyota. The future is bleak for all auto manufacturers.
