I know nothing about the company, but EVs are sold this way in Europe. You can buy a Renault Zoe and rent the battery pack:

SAM has a thread from last year I believe, it doesn't even stand up well to the EM Solo and Sondors. Elio is the logical choice in the 3 wheel mix. Licorice (Black Beauty) only looks good on a beautifully engineered vehicle. I'll print and hand out the new 'Details' page shown in Friday's EM blog ( should be on new website by tomorrow?) rather than show the new site. The licorice E1C belongs on their frig... waiting till they can order one (with leather seats :)) of course. We all wait impatiently for our Elio!

I agree, I think it would be better to advertise it with the smallest battery pack and have the bigger one listed as an upgrade. As Sondors does with there bikes. Personally, for my small commute (2-3 miles, local roads) it would get some laughs and be perfect. Can't imagine taking it on the freeway. But for 12,350 or 14,350 (true cost), I could buy a real car. ie) New Nissan Versa is 11,990. Used 2014 Nissan Leaf is 14,500.

I also love the E1C. But was quite disappointed it was only used as a polish and show car. Liked to see them use it around race tracks or on the street showing performance and mileage.

Cost to much for an and car.
Most of my commuting is on 65plus highways.
Would not be suitable for a solo road trip car either.

No electric for me. Infrastructure is not in place for a spread out community like Dallas/Fort Worth

What infrastructure do you need? Or better yet, what's the maximum range you need while traveling around the metro?

I guess the most important question is: Do you have access to home charging?

I live and work in the DFW area. I travel on a daily basis to inspect aircraft and it's not unusual for me to travel 260 miles round trip.
A typical trip is in the neighborhood of 160 miles.

Affordable BEVs are probably not going to cover your useage, but your commute is atypical, or at least in the bottom 10% of US drivers.

Texas hasn't particularly been amenable to BEVs, I mean, Tesla is outlawed from direct sales in the state.
