Almost from the start I've intended to put a strip of reflective tape horizontally across the bottom edge of the back of the fenders.

Yeah. Carpet has the additional benefit of being a lot more sound deadening than the cheap rubber flooring. I've never had a problem vacuuming my carpet but my Weathertech floormats are tricky to make them look clean without making them slicker than owl sh!t. Keeping the vehicle is pretty easy if you are careful with what you leave in there.
