In the video link posted above mostly I heard he still needs $370 million. Where is that coming from? I have not seen anything that indicates it is an amount that will just appear in his checking account. I'm still very hopeful to get my car before I die but...

Depending on the promotion I could see people speculating in the MacCoin. It's redeemable for a free Big Mac so if you hold on to it for years the value goes up.

I imagine this will cost them a ton, but the press and added sales must be worth it to them. I read that the coins are brass and free with a Big Mac purchase. I'll have to get one to see how the coin is.

I think it is an ingenious idea to boost sales and get people who were not thinking about eating McDonalds to come in anyway. And on the return trip if you get more than just your free burger then that helps offset the loss. And if you bring a friend or family with you #profit.

From the articles I have read it looks like they will only be good to turn in through the end of the year. I bet a lot will be kept by collectors and others will just lose or forget to turn them in. We have a couple Sonic poker chips for free drinks that we never ended up turning in either, LOL.

The U.S. Postal Service... and other countries postal services, have been doing the same thing for years. They produce stamps to appeal to collectors. The post office collects the postage but never has to deliver any mail. Some communist countries took it to the next step. They sold the stamps already cancelled so actually they are nothing more than pretty stickers. Any "coin" McDonalds produces will be made in the millions and well probably never be worth more than a burger.... and a pretty bad burger at that.

Man, I didn't realize the coins would only be for bad burgers. I rather like McDonalds burgers and was hoping to use the coin for one of their good ones!

We're kind of getting off topic. I'll just say, if you're ever in Houston get in touch with me and I'll treat you to a "good" burger. It won't be a Happy Meal, but then what is? :p

Don't get me wrong... I know the difference between great and bad burgers and I've had plenty of both. But, I'll defend McDonald's burgers as... consistently good enough for quick meals. And, this is getting off topic. I mean, I don't recall Paul ever talking about burgers. Coffee, yes. Burgers, no. So, this thread can now return to it's suggested topic! :)
