Does it really matter? His estimates are never accurate anyway.
It does matter. Elio was very open about new funding, suppliers and timelines a month ago and it would be nice to keep that line of communication open for the thousands of people that bought the car (technically they did with the commit to buy) as to when they will get their new Elio. Using the words and phrases like "soon" or "a few weeks" is a bit vague but with all of the funding coming in, it would be nice to see a countdown clock for the first customer delivery of an Elio. It's 76 weeks plus ?. So for me that means, it's an indefinite hold until the 76 weeks get going. This is like any project out there. When I give a timeline, it's in weeks and then I just wait until there is approval. That time from giving the timeline to approval can be anything. Soon could be 6 months when I want it to be 1 day.

People got their hopes up a month ago and Elio needs to keep this momentum going. i know that the STO has to be right around the corner but the issue I have is, do I have 100 miles or 1 block until I can turn the corner. I hope that it's one step but Elio could deliver some info on that since their last press conference.

I think their issue right now is that they don't really benefit from more reservations.
On the contrary, from today's 1-K filing:

"Customer Reservations. Customer reservations have provided significant funding for us in the past and we expect reservations to be a significant source of short-term liquidity in the future. With each progressive step in our development, we have experienced a surge in reservations. In addition, as we achieve subsequent milestones in the development of the Elio, customer confidence increases. Accordingly, we expect to see surges in reservations as the following milestones are achieved and announced: completion of prototypes, testing results, confirmation of mileage, hiring at the manufacturing facility, and, hopefully before production commences, scarcity."

Well DUH! What would you expect them to say?

Even a blind hog gets an acorn once in a while. I was kind of hoping for a more general change in the direction of their efforts. It would be interesting to see a graph of the reservations around that time and see if there was a spike that could be attributed to the Dayton visit.
There was a member that published monthly reservations #. The biggest spike from what I recall was September 2014 with an announcement that Sept 30th would be the end of the incentives, was extended followed by a special announcement to be announced the end of November.

Below is the chart I started posting in June 216, all the way up until Elio stopped posting reservation numbers back in March of 2017. That's just after they hit the 65k target they assigned to themselves. The big spike ended at the beginning of September, 2014. It was almost linear from there through the end of the graph.

It does go along with progress. So, what Elio needs to do is make sure they can post progress and not be in violation of the SEC. When they post progress, the number of reservations goes up. This might be why they are going the STO route because the SEC might have too much of a restriction on progress. With the STO, they are open to reveal much more information.
