I use an old cell phone with a dash mount and DailyRoads app.

Ooooh, that looks promising. We have a third car without a camera but do have extra old phones around. Do you have yours hard wired to always provide power to the phone to keep it alive when not using it, turn it on/off manually, or just let the phone battery drain down when not in use? I see the app has the ability to auto-start on boot, so that is a nice feature.

I made a quick disconnect assembly using a go pro mount and phone holder then just stash the whole thing on the glove compartment.
It gets plugged in to a 4' USB cord to a cig lighter adapter.

Since it mounts on the dash, it's high visibility, meaning other drivers can easily see it.
They tend to behave once they know they're on camera.
That and I drive older POS (at least in their eyes)

The app also allows you to send the vid to a server if there is a G force event exceeding a preset amount.
(you can change the value if needed)

Resurrecting an older post, my G1W fell off the windshield again and the old suction cup mount had finally wore out. Right now it is clipped in my GPS holder that sits on my dash, but I ordered two new suction mounts for it on amazon. After 4 plus years I can't complain. I did have to replace the battery once (probably again soon), but it takes a cell phone battery and it quite easy to change. My version uses a battery for "portable" use, but newer ones use a capacitor. About every 4 or 5 months I pull the SD card and wipe it, as g-force locks occur randomly during use, probably from potholes. I tried other models but most have issues with the battery right from the start, and I don't pull apart the new ones, just send them back to amazon. Would like another G1W one of these days.
Anyway, just popped in to see what is new - nothing much it seems. Too bad, my Versa is getting old quick and the Elio was supposed to replace it, HA. Looking at a new Hyundai instead. Maybe next time.
