LOL! I don't see how shorting $734 in stock could earn more than $734 in any short scenario... and I don't think that's exactly a "huge profit"... Unless you were being tongue in cheek and I just totally missed the joke... It's happened before.

A growing trend for companies that when their stock goes down, it’s now called “shorting”. There are cases that it is, but not many. Typical scenario is a company on an upward trend or a stock being driven by emotion. Then the stories come out from various sources (i.e. Seeking Alfa), that are finding every fault in hopes to drive it down in a big way.

Since there’s zero info or any stories like that for Elio it’s not being shorted on any scale that matters. It’s just being manipulated and a classic case of day traders at home making a few bucks here and there.
