It's relatively easy to produce just a few vehicles per year and sell them at a premium price. Not many people want one at a price above a Prius, sometimes double or even triple. TRex clones are making a relatively easy run of it. Here in the US you can probably get set up with a BlackJack Zero kit car, and THAT has the FWD setup in it. But $70k for an open roadster? Who wants that? Only a few.

The trick is to sell less than the demand. That is what I would have to do for my Atlantric. Could I make it cool enough to sell the 3 to 10-per-year to justify the effort? Most likely yes. That is the second trick, being 'cool' enough.(but cool to whom?) Third and final trick, having the investment you are willing to risk. (I don't) All three tricks are required.

You are assuming it will be expensive. I don't know the price but there are different price points for each person and vehicle. We could argue Elio all day and get nowhere but I will say it is MUCH easier to build a few and sell than try to mass produce from the start. I still think Paul needed to hand build 100 or so and charge a premium to get interest up but what do I know.

Anyway, I'd be interested in an Alien autocycle but for less than 15k assuming it's a car as in has a roof and doors.

edit--
I sent a message to Alien to ask for a quick run down on their plans. I am guessing it to be more like a trackday car, but that's just a guess.

I wonder how that would work today at my house? My weather station shows 8 degrees, gusts up to 34 mph and there's about 3" of snow on my street (actually two ruts down to some pavement). Tomorrow morning it'll be 1. I have a feeling there would not be too much FUV in it today or tomorrow or probably the next few days.

Hi Marshall! Thank you for your question, and please accept my apology for the delay... We are pushing hard here now for a preorder of 50 units this year, and 200 for next year. I believe that the public will continue to guide us as to whether we will be a vanity purchase, or a workhorse... 2 models for this year, Ethos and Vortex. Both vehicles currently available as either kit or completed. Q4 of this year, we will offer a 2 seater for 2020 production. If we find that the public wants a given direction, we will pursue it. We are a private outfit, with no outside ownership, direction or control. I started a year before Paul E did, but have been researching quietly till this year... Hope this helps, feel free to ask anything as we go!!
