Here’s a fun photo that really highlights the narrow profile of the Elio vehicle. The outboard front wheels make it appear wider than it really is.

The trunk area is definitely narrow!

I sat in that vehicle. While the overall profile is definitely narrow compared to a car - the Elio is quite roomy for the driver. There's more room than one might imagine. I stretched out both elbows and had to reach to touch both windows at the same time. I have a RAM truck and honestly, I had more room from my left side to the door in the Elio - than in my truck. I was very comfortable in the Elio. I'd buy an Elio in a NY second.

OH......where are the Saudi's with that big money!!!

I hope we don't find out that no one ever approached the Saudi's WRT financing the Elio. That would seem like a no brainer to me. A vehicle that would use gasoline but have an environmental impact that is similar to an electric vehicle but with several times the range. I don't know what the Saudi's are going to find to spend their money on but I cannot think of a better use of part of it than to get the Elio on the road.

The Saudi sovereign wealth fund is projected to have $600 billion of assets by 2020.

The Saudi’s are sophisticated investors, and don’t invest in small startups like Elio Motors.

Typically their startup investments are focused on new technology with a minimum investment of 5 billion.

The reason VC’s have no interest in funding Elio Motors is that the ROI margin is too thin.

A under 10K base price will never support the necesssry capital expenditures to finish development and start production.

EM's "half a car, half the cost" was beyond brilliant that got everybody convinced a 7K ELIO is possible....unfortunately development costs adds up and very limited funds dried up quickly. With no guarantees that it'll sell upwards of 200K just to break even, it's a hard sell for VCs.

I'm with you up to this point. Profit margin is key as is volume. Wal-Mart proves that every day with their cheap knock off items. China was made huge by it as well.

Right now wealthy people have almost forgotten the last recession and hence they are excited over luxury barges like Tesla and the new truck version. Their short shortsightedness doesn't make the dream wrong.
