Tesla Announces Fully Self-driving Cars By The End Of The Year

Here’s an interesting statment that Elon Musk made today!

“I think we will be feature complete — full self-driving — this year," Musk said. "Meaning the car will be able to find you in a parking lot, pick you up and take you all the way to your destination without an intervention, this year. I would say I am of certain of that. That is not a question mark."

Cool! Then hackers could steal your car without even getting out of their PJs.

Maybe they'll just circle the lot endlessly while the owners argue over who gets the last fat-guy cart to ride around the store in.

Hopefully, you never experience a physical condition or limitation of any kind that requires the need of a cart to ride around the store. Perhaps you would choose to stay home.

The carts are obviously there for people who need them. I'll continue to exercise and control what I eat. There's almost no chance I'll be so out of shape that I can't manage to walk through the grocery store to purchase food. Should that day come, I'll know it was due to my own lack of self control in regards to food intake. Because, lets face it. You can't get to 400-500 pounds unless you eat more than the average person. The person doing the feeding is usually the person doing the eating.

You missed my point. Keep in mind your mobility needs can change in a split second or over time with diagnosed medical conditions and age regardless of your current peak physical condition, ideal weight, and self controlled diet.

I ran into a situation about 20 years ago. When I was riding my motorcycle, I was rear ended by someone at a stoplight. It broke my hip and left leg. So I was not in any shape to get around. When I was able to do it with limited mobility, I seen the world quite differently. I was pretty much irritated to see people with handicap placards that could easily walk into the store. I also seen people that could walk into the store and then got a scooter. Then in the end, they could walk around just fine. In the end, there are the ones that need it but there are the ones that abuse the system. The ones that abuse the system stick out like a sore thumb when you are in the position of actually needing it. It really was a sight to have my deaf brother helping me get around when someone else was with a family of 4 and they needed to use the scooter. Needless to say, my brother was very vocal about it and when someone was ready to go off on him, they realized he must be deaf by the way he talks and thus they are confused as to whether to go off on him or not. Even if they did, it's not like he could hear them.

I tend to avoid making first impression/assumptions or criticize someone that appears to be walking just fine since they could have respiratory or other non-obvious limitations that prevent longer walks and or even standing for long periods of time. I use a TravelScoot in airports when traveling and at times shopping COSTCO, the big box stores, or the mall and has nothing to do with weight. It’s light weight enough and folds to fit in the Arcimoto or the Elio. I simply reacted to Ty’s BS “fat-guy cart” comment. The majority of those using mobility gear, short or long term, has nothing to do with weight, but nice to have the store provided scooter option for those having weight issues as well. Obviously, we can’t all be as fit and/or have as much self control as Ty.
