In my world technology rules...

Ungraded my iPhone to the XR model... all my TVs are controlled and stream from my iPhone...no need for all those old fashion TV remotes...

And...Apple Car iPhone integration is amazing...and love Apple Pay!!!

I just installed Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 inch SSD drives in my PC laptops...they now boot up in approximately 10 seconds...the 1TB SSD drives are only about $140...the Samsung SSD‘s are easy to clone and install...

I’ve also fully integrated Alexa into my
household... she controls my thermostat, lights, and even my coffee pot...

My high tech hero is George Jetson...

My favorite store growing up was RadioShack...

The contactless pay is the future. What I like is that in Europe they have it just about everywhere and when you go out to eat, they have paying the bill so much better than in the US it's not even funny.

I alway said if I won the lotto my first purchase would be a limo with a chauffeur to drive us. In my youth I had the 327/350hp Chevelle SS, Mustang 302/290hp and an Alfa Romeo Spider Turismo. Today a self driving car sounds great, maybe it’s because I grew up watching the Jetsons cartoons.

I am still waiting to see how these "autonomous" vehicles will navigate the typical road hazards in the northeast. Can they prevent a deer from broadsiding you (this happened to me once , stopped in the road), what about axlebraking potholes which we have scads of throughout the winter and spring? Can't avoid those without driving off the road or into the other lane... I was hit by a goose driving my corvette once, flew right down into the front spoiler, too many unpredictable hazards for AI to analyze and compensate for, stopping dead in the road for a pothole is a nogo situation here, a semi will run you down.

I doubt that many will be able to afford buying a fully autonomous vehicle if nothing else, the cost of insurance will probably be pretty steep. I think most autonomous will be owned by "taxi" services.

It's like 25 years ago when we were installing autonomous fork trucks in factories. They were never going to work because of the unique environment of a factory floor. I heard about 1000 comments as to what we were doing was a waste of time. In the first year, there were some issues but I'm proud to say that today, they still work just fine. Never call in sick, never gripe about anything, don't show up to work when drunk and you can work them like a dog at 24/7. We even had worked in a system where one would go offline to be serviced and another would take it's place.

That was 25 years ago. As of today, they technology and hardware/software is so much better that I don't see why a car couldn't do the same. It won't be perfect right now and any error will be reported all over the news but the reality is, its coming no matter how much you don't want it to happen.

I fully agree it's going to happen. Just like safety belts, it will be done for our own safety. I just don't think most people will be able to pay for all the additional service and yearly calibrations that may be required. This is something a taxi fleet can manage much better than an individual. The other problem right now is the amount of energy all that autonomy will require. Tesla may be closest with a new processor but others will catch up. I also see some new taxes so that officials can pay for all the road communication upgrades they will want for better traffic control. It ain't going to be cheap.
