If you remember, as nearly always, it was Data who was used to get out of the loop. So perhaps, we will have to wait for a robot as advance as Data to help Paul get the Elio made. Perhaps the android will show him how to get funding then will single handedly build the thing at top speed while the workers will be busy making the parts and washing/shining it before being loaded on the trucks.

Elio is in luck. There's a robot that they could buy and it has lots of automotive experience.

At least there's a test drive of that vehicle in 2017 as oppose to Elio which has not been for a while. Does anyone have a link to the last person who was not part of Elio that drove the Elio outside of a parking lot?
