Would have been happy with an Elio ,

What company do you work for?
Oh wait, at 113, you are probably self employed.

I think I'm going to get a Solo. I'm still debating it though. I have a classic truck and 2017 Toyota 86 so I don't need the Solo. It could save me money in the long run though and keep miles off the other rides. Then again I could just take a pay cut and work closer to home. That would save time AND money assuming the pay cut is reasonable. Decisions.....

Well, I waited as long as I could. Got to buy another vehicle. I was hoping to get an Elio and save my old truck - but that didn’t work out. Maybe the Elio will come out in time to help me keep the miles off the new ride.

Oh well......

My extended absence from this group should suggest that I gave up waiting long ago. Being a diesel freak, I found a creampuff of a well maintained, low mileage '98 Mercedes E300 Turbodiesel that the couple who owned it was more concerned with it going to a good home than wringing every possible dime out of the sale. At 67, it could well be my last car. Obviously, it doesn't do what I hoped the Elio would; I still think twice before jumping in the car and wandering. I had hoped the Elio would be the functional equivalent of the motorcycles I always owned and often put more miles on than my car. As long as I'm still able to drive, an Elio would be useful but I've stopped holding my breath. I see no indications of a viable future for Elio regardless of how good an idea it is. I may as well have invested in teleportation technology. I don't regret going "all in" for the max, it was an intelligent gamble and like most bets, you don't win them all.

Yes I went ahead and bought a 2013 Hyundai Sonata hybrid. Had 117000 miles on it but paid less than loan value on it. Get overall about 43 mpg. But before that I splurged on a retirement gift. A 2016 Jaguar XJL with a 5.0l engine. Yeah slightly less gas mileage. But it gets to 75 mph allot quicker. Great smooth ride. It also had less than 20,000 miles on it. Do I need the Elio now. No but i will still get it and sell the Hyundai.

I ordered my Solo three weeks ago. They gave me a $1000 credit for my Elio order. Just sent them my receipt from Elio and boom, discount. Projected deliver date is 4th quarter of 2019.

With only 2 years to go until retirement, I'm giving my Elio to my son, he drives 94 miles round-trip to work and back [mine's only 84]. Got too spoiled driving Caddies for the last two years so I'm sticking with them. Just picked up [Father's Day Weekend] this baby. 2005 Cadillac XLR with only 8400 miles on it, $21k after my CTS Coupe trade in. Friggin' LOVE it!

Very nice. Hope you show us pictures of it when you get it.
Glad to see so many moving on to other cars. My Jeep Wrangler is a little over an year old now. Time goes so fast. If the Elio was to be made in the USA and come out, I believe I will would still buy it. I'm not contractional forced to do so as many are, but still feel it would be a "neat" car. If nothing else, perhaps might turn into a collectors item.
