Gotcha.... I was just wondering.
It’s a neat looking machine and I’m sure it would be fun to drive. No doubt about that.

Just my opinion, but I’m not so sure it would be like wearing a helmet in an Elio. Requirement wise - maybe... but safety wise I don’t think they’re quite the same. The Elio has (one day?) a door and a solid wall with glass. These will keep head, arms inside - typically. Unless you’re getting doors and glass.... I don’t think it’s quite the same.

Open back roads and slow city traffic, i’d Probably ride without a helmet. But in traffic thats faster and heavier, I might have to put a bucket on. ;)

Congrats of the new ride coming. Hope to hear all about it with photos.....

What color are you getting?
Thanks! Keep in mind the motorcycle helmet is worn to prevent head injuries if thrown from the motorcycle. The FUV has seatbelts, rollover protection, 1/2 door and full hardshell enclosure door options. I ordered the Silver Base with Yellow Accent Color. Not my favorite color, but highly visible for that added margin of safety.
I realize The FUV doesn’t meet your needs, but test drive it when it gets to your area.......it’s a blast and I guarantee a smile!

I can attest to this, I did the test drive last year and it was a freaking hoot to drive. If I did not have my Miata as my fair weather commuter I would definitely consider getting one.

The engineer behind the FUV compares it’s performance/handling to driving his wife’s Miata! :) It’s important to note that the FUV goes well beyond fun that includes being a FUNctional “&” vehicle and not just a toy. For this old geezer Fun factor is a bonus. The FUV’s seat height provides for easy ingress/egress and driver comfort. My wife and I found it to be as or more comfortable to drive than our SUV. I’ll choose to drive the FUV 80+% of the time. The SUV will serve as my range extender or lousy weather driver.

Thanks! I can’t help myself answering questions about the Arcimoto. I’ll go back in my cave for awhile.

Definitely much easier to get in and out of the FUV, big time. My Miata is a bit lower than stock on coilovers, but even at the stock height my wife had enough trouble getting in and out of it that she stopped borrowing it. I took that as a sign to start modifying it for my tastes :D And we are only in our 40s, so I imagine it would only get worse from here. Me, I love the cozy feel but I am sure my wife would prefer an FUV.

When they come around for test drives next I will be sure to bring her along. That would be the clincher for getting one in our garage, for sure. She rode a Vespa in her younger days so I know she enjoys the open air cruising.

My wife had zero interest in the FUV, until she drove it. We had 2 Betas out and I followered her back to the AMP, the first thing she said was, “We need to get 2 of these!” :) Her other comment was that the seats were so comfortable, she wanted to take one home. No Vespa or motorcycle riding in her 71 years until that moment. She’s a fan. My favorite option is the ‘convertible’ feature of being able to ride open air and partially or fully enclosed with the enclosure options. DON’t let your wife test drive the FUV unless you have space in your garage!

Well, I just finished building the backyard shed last week to make room in the garage for her Jaguar, so it is her space to give up if she wants! My Miata and the Grocery Getter live in the driveway roasting in the sun. We know which one of us is important to keep happy :D

It would be great for short jaunts I drive 6 to 7 hrs to get to my job Offshore so not feasible for me except around the neighborhood I do like the look
Definitely not a 6-7 hour long commuter. Perfect for under 100 mile jaunts. It could be a supplement to your long range commuter vehicle. :)

I had a deposit down on the SRK EV 2 years ago. Arcimoto didn't meet their production timeline. I since moved that refundable deposit on to the Elio (which seems a much better value) and the Lit Motor's C-1. Elio should be the first fun to drive auto-cycle classified vehicle to roll off the production finish line.
So, you really believe Elio will some day "roll off the production finish line"? How can something that does not exist (Elio) be a better value than something that does (Arcimoto)?
