I suppose it's not unexpected, but single motor trims have been pushed to the back of the line. Only 17% of orders were for the single motor variant of the Cybertruck...so I guess it makes sense to focus on the most popular trims first...but it's still a bit of a shame.
The best part is, Tesla is letting everyone know now as opposed to right before they get to production. They were able to see what the bulk of the consumers want and adjust their production schedule accordingly. They learned from the Model 3 and are taking a proactive position now as to keep all of the short sellers to pound Tesla when the Cybertruck comes out. Then, it looks like the Cybertruck will actually come out as opposed to it just being a dream. I do wonder how Tesla will make this truck. Where will they build it? They have to be running out of room and will need another plant. Since the Elio plant made Hummers, they would be tooled up currently for the Cybertruck. maybe Elon should call Paul and ask if they could lease the plant to build the Cybertruck until Elio gets ready to build the Elio. As of now, Tesla will have the Cybertruck out before the Elio. This would be a great stop gap solution to keep Elio going until they get funding.

I love Engineering Explained, I found him from his Elio video and have followed his channel since. FWIW he is not anti-Tesla, his main car is a Tesla. Engineering numbers should have no bias :)

I agree with johnsnownw, I do not think most people are going to do a lot of towing with the Cybertruck. Doug Demuro poo-pooed the Cybertruck as well, comparing max towing ratings to other trucks for the price. In general, my suburban Texas neighborhood full of Mallardo full size trucks that are really minivan/sedan standins that see almost no towing of any kind. This will not be a vehicle that handles every situation. No other vehicle handles every situation either.

I honestly wish it was mid-sized since that would fit my needs better. But I am in love with the design so will deal with an enormous truck, LOL. I think it is currently something like two feet longer than a Suburban. Yuge.
I agree with you completely! The design is just wickedly different and that's the whole appeal- from every aspect, pound for pound literally the best value. Been an ICE vehicle owner for ages but now that I'm retired and in control of where I go- an EV is a welcome change for me! I have two worries about the CYBERTANK- errr CYBERTRUCK and the is the loooooong wait again just to own one, 2ndly, there's no guarantee that TESLA will keep the base price of 39k for base model - which I can barely afford.

My dream crushed....again! But I get it, just business. Better stick to what I can afford- SOLO which in my unqualified estimated delivery (#556) middle of 2022.

I'll just wait until Johnsnownw get his CYBERTANK and maybe he'll sell me his used Tesla sedan!
