Caution: Sarcastic Post

Paul Elio is a genius and is way ahead of the curve. By not starting up the plant he has avoided all this coronavirus mess. I'm sure he, and all the rest of the "employees" are already working from home too. We should thank him for being a visionary leader. He probably also realizes the Solo is a much better idea in that the Elio would put people much too close together. The Solo gives each individual their own bubble of protection. One more nail in the Elio coffin?
Warning: More sarcasm. On the contrary. This will get us to production. Paul will be able to take the millions he and his "engineering firm" made on non-refundable deposits and make a killing in the stock market when it shoots straight up after all of this is over. He'll then be able to have the Eliocoin re-coded and reach the 300+M goal it will take to get the line started. He is, indeed, a genius.

Parody for entertainment ONLY: On a side note. i heard a rumor that EM may have offered to use their capabilities to make forward-looking respirators in exchange for non-refundable deposits. I also heard a rumor that the feds may have responded with, "Uh, no."

Speaking of fiction:

One big difference between this Elio ‘saga’ and the infamous Dale three wheeler is cross dressing and murder. So far, the only victims are the reservationists and investors, but who knows? And Paul and Hari might even look good in drag! Maybe there’s money in it.

Very funny now after re-familiarizing myself with the Dale story, there are many similarities! Maybe this was the germ of the Elio business plan! Small world!!

I would be interesting if only single passenger cars would be allowed. Solo's would take off and motorcycles would have to have their rear pegs removed. USA then would look like Japan. Paul could probable just take the rear seat out and move the driver seat back some and qualify.

Better than having the American fleet of motorcycles loaded up with fifteen family members at a time like some in India and Pakistan.

What is sad is that this thread is over a year old and zero progress since then. We got an oddball meeting with the governor on Ohio last April but I think that was the last peep from Paul?

Thing is, Paul never said anything on camera or in front of people. It was a disclaimer written on FB. Unless you analyzed the video, you'd have no idea Paul was even there. I would really like to know what was going on with that whole deal. It seems to me that it was Stu using his clout from the Dayton deal that he was somehow going to make the Lordstown deal work. In the end, I look at it as a dog an pony show for a last ditch effort to get people behind Elio Motors and the gov to get excited about it and throw some incentives toward Elio to get all of those people back to work. From looking at the feedback, it was a no deal and the we know how it all turned out.

It's pretty much a situation that Elio is just trying anything (and those opportunities are thin) but the real issue is the past record is catching up and no matter what, you can't sugarcoat it. Then, not a single report of Paul being anywhere in just about a year. Is he alive? Is he still in the US? Nobody knows as the company has stopped all communication. Even the insiders here seem to be getting the cold shoulder.

RS, I’m in agreement wholeheartedly. But as a ‘point of order,’ that dubious ‘pop up’ looked like it was a favor for Stu and his Trust. The important thing that all the ‘pop ups’ lacked was publicity! I do not recall a single opportunity where Hari and Paul promoted a ‘pop up’ either before, or after the event. One time it was dusty and dirty, another time, a fender fell off. This is but one more reason that it’s clear, to me, that they simply were never seriously planning on producing, a viable vehicle. They were interested in investors and reservationists who confused their marketing strategies with an assumption of the desire to produce.
