They may not have spun it BEFORE taking the pictures but you can damned well guarantee that engine has been running by now. There's no way Elio would take an unstarted engine in front of the media and try to start it. Nope. That's why its the OFFICIAL "First start" instead of the "first start".

And I thought I heard said it would be on the dyno on the 28th and 29th then the first "public" start on Feb. 6th ?

This is not just a case of starting the engine and listening to it. They will have a whole lot of work to carry out with regards to finding the optimum ignition and mixture mapping.

By the way, the engine shown in the latest press release shows no signs of a fuel system having been fitted so I doubt it had been run at that time.

The oil to coolant heat exchanger sitting under the oil filter is similar to ones fitted to some British cars as far back as three decades ago.

That's correct.

Paul Elio told Ronnie Schreiber on October 20, after dynotesting, assuming they meet power and torque specs, they will run the engine to failure. Following that, 25 validation examples of the engine will be built for pre-production pilot vehicles, some of which will be used for crash testing. The more of that pre-production testing they can show, the more likely it becomes they'll get enough capital with Corporate Fuel Securities for a first production run.
