Every few months I get an an email from this group saying just how you've missed me and I log in to see if I've missed anything. Nothing changes; same folks with the Pollyanna attitude singing "The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow". I haven't received any communication from Elio in a few years it...
Have I "given up"? I went "all in" nonrefundable so giving up wouldn't really change things at all. Either way it was a wager that I lost. Do I think it will ever reach production? When flying monkeys emerge from my posterior. For even the most optimistic believing otherwise would set the bar...
My extended absence from this group should suggest that I gave up waiting long ago. Being a diesel freak, I found a creampuff of a well maintained, low mileage '98 Mercedes E300 Turbodiesel that the couple who owned it was more concerned with it going to a good home than wringing every possible...
Just finished an AR build in Wilson Combat's new 300 HAM'R round. .223 based, light weight, soft recoil, exceeds 30-30 performance and delivers sub-moa accuracy. I'm too cheap to buy their factory ammo but converting .223 brass is a slam dunk and Speer 125gr TNT's are dirt cheap and deadly accurate.
A lot of people go to Vegas and lose a lot more money with less guarantee of a return than taking a chance on an Elio. I don't regret my "all in" bet on Elio. Disappointed? Sure, who isn't? The universe provides if you pay attention. Being retired with less disposable income than I was used to...
I'm 64, "all in" for the max so there ain't gonna be no "selling off my stock", SIL somewhere around 2300+/-. I've been a stalwart for the duration but the SEC report doesn't look good and the deal with Shreveport may fall apart due to no tax revenue until Elios roll off the line. Pruitt's...
"Spirited driving"? Wider tires? All things considered (55hp, 1300lbs) I highly doubt you'd be outdriving the tires. In fact, I'd bet that wider tires would diminish the performance not to mention decrease fuel economy. I think it might even look a bit goofy to boot.
As my failing vision threatens to shorten my driving career I am understandably impatient but as an engineer I've learned to respond to customers and management with this; "You can have it right now or you can have it right, you choose." Gotta walk my talk.
As a retired engineer I "get" how it takes as long as it takes but since I made my deposit delivery has slipped from 2014 to mid 2015 and now 2017. I'm a bit skeptical at this point that a 2017 delivery is realistic. The cost of fuel severely limits my traveling decisions as it is and I've only...
I'm waiting with bated breath for my Elio. As a retiree I've noticed that I don't travel much with the price of gas so high. Averaging 23mpg in my Soob Forester.
The old NikaSil aluminum bores have come a long way since the ill fated Vega. I'm assuming IAV will be using Plasma Wire Arc Tranfer to coat the bores. That works.
